Throughout The Years
At Hatton Granite, our history is what brought us to our success today. As a family-owned business, we take pride in our milestones and our over 100 years of caring for our clients.
1904
Hatton Granite Company is established by Christian Ness on Railroad Ave in Hatton North Dakota shortly after emigrating from the Hallingdal area of Norway. He is later joined by his sons Gilbert, Clarence, and Henry Ness.
1929
After Christian Ness's passing in 1929, his son Clarence Ness takes over as the owner of Hatton Granite Company.
1949
Hatton Granite Company is sold to Christian's daughter and son-in-law, Palmer and Inez Wamstad.
1971
Palmer and Inez's son, Don Wamstad, purchases ½ ownership in Hatton Granite Company.
1977
Don and Nicki Wamstad become the sole owners of Hatton Granite Company - fourth generation.
1984
Hatton Granite Company moves from the Railroad Ave property to Hwy 18 South and into a new building with overhead cranes and modern sandblasting equipment.
2001
Blake Wamstad joins his parents, Don & Nicki Wamstad, in the family business, becoming the fifth generation involved.
2005
Blake & Jill Wamstad expand Hatton Granite Company with the countertop division. Purchasing their first CNC, the Destiny.
2010
Blake & Jill Wamstad branch off and start Hatton Granite Countertops Inc.
2012
Hatton Granite Countertops Inc becomes a fully digital shop. Beginning with laser templating to digital layouts of projects to our waterjet and cnc.
2019
Hatton Granite Company builds 2 new buildings which are home to large indoor monument displays, and a new fabrication area.
2025
Hatton Granite on both sides of the businesses, have grown and continue to grow and change in all aspects, to better serve our customers.
